Committed to being a change agent, an advocate for the betterment of people and a voice for those they feel voiceless, Steven J. Carter joins I Am Next’s Housing Team as a Housing Stability Coach. Steven is a proponent of helping people bring out the inner strength and resilience they didn’t know existed. Although the residents find Steven to be overly stern at times, he is still loving and caring to each resident and makes sure to advocate for them in a daily basis.
Steven brings years of experience working with and serving children, youth and families from all walks of life and socioeconomic backgrounds in different capacities and roles. As such, prior to arriving at I Am Next, he served as a Project Coordinator with Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency, where help manage the Emergency Rental Assistance- Eviction Protection Program grant and team that processed and approved applications, the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families grant and hired the team to perform the field work and other small grant received to provide mortgage assistance for households needing one-time assistance with making a mortgage payment in Sumner County.
Steven is also a community leader and advocate, who believes strongly in working to serve his community, and does so in his capacity as a Councilman for the city of Gallatin. He is not one to only serve behind a desk. Since starting his tenure as an elected official, Steven has hosted annual Easter Egg Hunts and Trunk-or-Treat events to stay engaged in the community at large and give back to the future leaders.
