Alyssa serves as the driving instructor for NextStop Driving School, a program of IAmNext dedicated to equipping young adults ages 18 to 24 who have aged out of foster care with the practical skills they need to gain independence. Operating out of the Greenview location, Alyssa is the sole instructor for the program, bringing focused, individualized attention to every student she works with.
Before joining NextStop, Alyssa spent years working directly with populations connected to the foster care system, giving her a deep understanding of the unique challenges young adults face as they transition out of care and into independent adulthood. That experience shapes the way she teaches today. She recognizes that for many of her students, learning to drive is not simply about passing a test. It is about building confidence, expanding access to employment and education, and taking a meaningful step toward self sufficiency.
Alyssa’s approach to instruction is patient, structured, and student centered. She meets each young adult where they are, adjusting her teaching style to fit different learning needs and comfort levels behind the wheel. Whether a student has never sat in the driver’s seat before or simply needs practice building confidence on the road, Alyssa is committed to creating a supportive environment where mistakes are treated as part of the learning process rather than something to fear.
Her work at NextStop reflects a broader commitment to seeing young people succeed, not just as drivers, but as capable, confident adults ready to take on the next chapter of their lives. She collaborates closely with the NextStop and IAmNext team, to ensure the driving program continues to meet the evolving needs of the students it serves.
Outside of her work at NextStop, Alyssa is a wife to her husband Matthew and a mother to two daughters, with a third child on the way. Her own experience of building a family gives her a personal appreciation for the stability and independence she works to help her students achieve. Rooted in faith and a genuine love for the young people she serves, Alyssa brings both professionalism and heart to her role as a driving instructor, helping to steer NextStop’s mission forward one student at a time.
