I Am Next Wins Significant Grant to Apply Towards Supportive Housing for Emerging Foster Youth 

News Channel 5 recognizes the impact that the project will have on the Nashville Community.

With the help of $7.5 million grant from Metro Nashville’s Barnes Fund, at least 60 young adults at a time who are aging out of foster care will be able to call Greenview Apartments, a renovated motel off Murfreesboro Pike, their first true home. Before the end of the year, I Am Next plans to help move in the most vulnerable 18 to 24-year-olds in the area to Greenview where they can live and also receive I Am Next’s supportive services. In otherwise, these kids will finally have a safe place to land and grow from. 

“We’re kind of getting away from the shared living model, and really going into the autonomous, single studio apartments to give these guys a sense of ownership, integrity, autonomy, and we’re really excited,” said Nathan Harmening, executive director at I am Next.
