The work we do to support young adults aging out of foster care is only possible with the support of community investors who want to change the trajectory of the future.

Donations help I Am Next expand access to quality housing. They fund continued case management and other safety net supports. They support workforce and life-skills development, and they lead to educational opportunities that feed into bigger, broader career dreams.

Your charitable contributions create opportunities. They make sustainable independence possible.

Invest in Today. Invest in What's Next.

Odds are, you entered adulthood cresting a wave of investments in your future.

Most Americans turn 18 and still have somewhere to sleep, to eat, to study. There might be a hand-me-down car and a spot on someone’s insurance. Maybe a grandparent started a college fund. A guardian co-signed the lease on a first apartment.

Very few young people who grow up in foster care experience these kinds of steady investments. They make up less than 1% of the youth population in the U.S. But too many of these young people bear the weight of adjusting to adulthood alone.

By investing in the future of young people aging out of foster care, we can keep them from entering the cycle of chronic homelessness. We can establish a safety net. We can empower them to strive and to grow. And we can benefit not just individuals, but society at large.

You can make a difference. You can change lives.

Invest in What's Next.

After I left my foster home at 18, I was working dead-end jobs and living paycheck to paycheck. At one of these dead-end jobs, I met I Am Next Executive Director Nathan Harmening, who has acted as both a mentor and role model to me.

Nathan saw something in me that I thought was completely gone. He ignited the fire of passion in my soul once again, and now, alongside I Am Next, I work tirelessly to ensure that no young adult has to face the same tribulations as me.

By donating to I Am Next, you invest in the futures of other former foster youths, as Nathan did for me, and help prevent them from falling into the vicious cycle of homelessness. A recurring donation of $30 a month ensures that participants have the wrap-around support they need for anything from their phone bill to getting their driver’s license, while supporting the I Am Next program as a whole. Please join us, become a Next Investor, and invest in what’s NEXT.

As a former foster youth, the path to where I stand today has been arduous.
